Cutting out my lifestyle section
I have decided to cut out the lifestyle section of my magazine. This isn't a decision I've taken lightly and I put a lot of thought into this. My magazine was going to be split into 3 sections; Beauty, fashion and lifestyle, however as I've progressed with photo shoots I have realised that they showcase skills I possess that I want to pursue in the future for my career like creative direction, magazine layout, fashion styling and makeup artistry. I feel like the lifestyle section will take a lot of time and cost a lot of money to constantly go back and forth from London and I would rather spend that time and money on producing more fashion and beauty content. I think this will be more interesting for the target reader which is mainly millennials but of course this will flow over to people from the generation X, who are trend focused with an interest in fashion and beauty. I have made this decision as I want to use this project to produce content I am passionate about, which is styling and makeup trends. This way when I use this magazine as portfolio material for future jobs when the company I am applying to look through it they know what skills I possess. I am really enjoying creating content for the magazine and I don't want to slow down by having to create work that I have discovered isn't that important to me. I will be dedicating a lot more time to fashion and beauty material now which has made me feel more motivated and excited about the project again.
