SS17 beauty shoot

On the 20th April I did my beauty shoot. The studio was booked from 1pm till 5pm so I asked my model to arrive at 12 to get the first makeup look ready. The photographer arrived at 12.30 to set up the studio, this was a relief for me as I don't know what lighting to use in order to get the images I wanted so I showed my photographer the lighting examples and she got to work. During the same time I was doing my shoot I had to do makeup for a friends photo shoot which I had agreed to under pressure, this was stressful as I didn't want to make my model and photographer wait around. I told my friend that my photo shoot was my priority so once my models makeup and hair was completed the photographer started doing test photo's with the model to ensure the lighting was right. While they were doing this I did the makeup and hair for my friends photo shoot, luckily this was relatively simple so it only took 15 minutes, I had to tell them that if they required any touch ups they would have to wait. Due to my model knowing how to work her face and was comfortable in front of the camera, as well as my photographer being very good at taking beauty images, the first look was photographed in 15 minutes. Each makeup change took about 35 minutes to remove and complete the next look. Due to requiring so many different products and brushes to complete each look the makeup space near the photography studios got quite unorganised very quickly due to other students taking it in turn to use the space and leaving products all over the table. This was quite frustrating and I kept struggling to find the things I needed but in the industry I may not have a set up as good as the on in the studios so I felt lucky to have that space despite having to share it with so many people. By the final look I was exhausted as I had been there over 5 hours. I was very grateful that the photographer was so patient and wasn't in a rush to leave as she had brought her laptop to do work in the studio while waiting for me and the model to change looks. The model really wanted to build up her portfolio and so was happy to dedicate her afternoon to get the best images possible. Below are some images I took in the makeup room while completing the makeup looks. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of every look I completed. I was so happy with my choice in model as she has a really good bone structure and the perfect facial features for a beauty editorial.
